Municipal Zoning Administrator Simcoe

As Zoning Administrator, you will interpret the County’s zoning by-law and provide professional advice on zoning matters. Your work supports building permits, site plans, variances, amendments, severances, and subdivisions. Municipal planning, building, or zoning administration experience will help you assess compliance and respond confidently to applicants, staff, and the public.
Key Responsibilities:
Review zoning provisions for building permit applications and regulations
Provide written zoning comments on building and development applications
Interpret zoning by-laws and advise applicants, staff, and industry
Determine legal non-conforming and non-complying property status
Attend development meetings, including pre-consultation and site plan reviews
Requirements:
Two-year diploma or degree in planning or related discipline
Two years’ municipal planning, building, or zoning administration experience
Working knowledge of Ontario planning legislation and zoning principles
Strong written, verbal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Valid Ontario driver’s license and reliable vehicle access
Use zoning interpretation, municipal knowledge, and customer service skills to support well-planned communities throughout Norfolk County.
