Director of Machine Learning Engineering

Shape Planet’s machine learning engineering strategy in a full-time hybrid role based three days weekly in Denver or Washington DC.
The Director of Engineering, Analytics leads the organization developing satellite-imagery models and pipelines. You will guide a transition from hand-built detectors toward foundation-model methods while expanding monitored sites from hundreds to thousands. You will report to the VP of Technology and lead teams across North America and Europe.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute analytics talent strategies
Convert program commitments into dated owned work
Report delivery status, including slippage
Advance the foundation-model analytics portfolio
Deliver shared quality and latency targets
Requirements:
Eight-plus years in software or machine learning engineering
Six-plus years managing engineering managers
Experience shipping machine learning into production
Clear planning and status-reporting ability
Active clearance or eligibility to obtain one
Lead Planet’s machine learning engineering growth with accountable delivery, staffing discipline, and foundation-model experience.
