As a Lead Design Engineer, you will build systems that power Samsara products and scale design team impact. You will define components, patterns, tokens, and guidelines for people and agents. Your work combines design and code while shaping reliable, accessible, responsive, and performant products.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop system components, evaluations, and feedback loops for AI generation
Govern design quality and prevent unsuitable output reaching customers
Translate system decisions into maintainable, performant code
Build accessibility, responsiveness, and performance into the system
Set contribution, governance, and deprecation models
Requirements:

Eight or more years in design engineering or related fields
Degree in Computer Science, Human Computer Interaction, or equivalent experience
Portfolio demonstrating shipped design system or component library work
Strong interaction and visual design judgment
Experience with tokens, theming, accessibility, and AI tools
Bring design systems, interaction design, accessibility, and AI development experience to Samsara’s remote Canadian engineering team.
