Island Health Emergency Dispatcher

Support Island Health emergency codes as a Dispatcher at Royal Jubilee Hospital, coordinating communications across Victoria healthcare operations.
This casual position reports to the Team Leader, Protection Services, and operates communications equipment for Island Health sites. Duties include dispatching for multiple Operations & Support Services departments, using a Windows based computer system, logistics applications, and a network based two way radio system. Patient and staff safety remains a shared responsibility throughout the work.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform dispatching duties for multiple departments
Participate in all Island Health emergency codes
Operate associated communications equipment
Use Windows based computer systems
Apply logistics related technology and applications
Requirements:
Grade 12 and one year recent related experience
Education, training, and experience equivalent combinations accepted
Keyboard at 45 words per minute
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Deal effectively with others and organize work
Bring organized dispatching, effective communication, and technical equipment skills to Island Health’s emergency communications operations.
