Operate critical commercial building systems in Halifax while applying HVAC knowledge, troubleshooting skills, and preventative maintenance expertise on-site. English communication is essential.
This permanent, full-time Building Operator supports daily operations across commercial properties. You will maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical, BAS, and life safety systems while supporting tenant service, contractors, and property management. The work also includes sustainability initiatives, inspections, and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and monitor HVAC, plumbing, electrical, BAS, and life safety systems
Perform preventative maintenance and repair pumps, fans, boilers, and chillers
Respond to tenant work orders and maintain records using Angus
Coordinate contractors, obtain quotations, and support regulatory inspections
Test fire alarms, emergency power, and critical building systems
Requirements:
Three or more years in commercial building operations or property maintenance
4th Class Power Engineering or Building Environmental Systems certification
Technical knowledge of central heating and cooling plants
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Angus, and mobile technology
Valid driver's licence and occasional evening, weekend, or holiday flexibility
