Forward Deployed Engineer

About the Role
Join a software investment and operations team as a Forward Deployed Engineer, embedding with portfolio companies to build and deploy agentic software in live workflows. You will own delivery and outcomes end to end, helping operators turn practical business needs into reusable software solutions.
What You'll Do
Work directly with portfolio company teams to understand their operating models and identify high-impact workflows for agentic software.
Build integrations, prompts, evaluations, and user interfaces to deploy production systems using a shared platform.
Monitor and improve deployed systems after launch, calibrating autonomy and supporting handoffs to operations teams.
Build trusted relationships with general managers and other business stakeholders, setting clear expectations for deployments.
Document deployment patterns and turn lessons learned into reusable playbooks for future implementations.
What We're Looking For
Three to six years of experience in full-stack, customer-facing software or product engineering, or forward deployed engineering.
Proficiency in TypeScript or Python, React, and SQL, with the ability to own end-to-end development.
Experience shipping and maintaining production LLM or agentic software for external users, including evaluations, autonomy controls, and outcome tracking.
Experience working directly with customers or operators and delivering beyond demos and prototypes.
Ability to translate ambiguous business problems into scoped technical solutions and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.
Familiarity with AI developer tools; experience with Go, data platforms, or event-driven systems is useful.
Exposure to investment, consulting, vertical software, or operational environments is beneficial.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary is $180,000 to $260,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is available.
Location
Hybrid in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, with frequent travel to portfolio company sites.
