Remote International Freight Operations Manager

Lead international freight forwarding operations remotely from anywhere in Canada, using team leadership and complex shipment expertise. Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal candidates are preferred.
This senior Operations Manager position oversees freight forwarding professionals and project execution for live events, entertainment, productions, and exhibitions. You will combine strategic direction with hands-on coordination of time-sensitive international shipments, customs requirements, carriers, clients, and budgets. The independent contractor works primarily Monday to Friday, with occasional evening and weekend responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, coach, and mentor freight forwarding professionals
Coordinate international projects from consultation through final delivery
Oversee specialized cargo for time-sensitive events
Manage customs documentation, budgets, tracking, and reporting
Resolve disruptions and improve operational procedures
Requirements:
Minimum 10 years’ progressive international freight forwarding experience
Experience leading freight forwarding teams and employee development
Knowledge of customs clearance, documentation, and trade compliance
Carrier negotiation, quotations, and project cost-control experience
Advanced Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and tracking-system proficiency
