AltaLink is hiring a Power System Engineering Technologist for its Calgary Project Engineering team. Use PSSE, AESO requirements, and technical judgment to support transmission projects.
This full-time permanent opportunity focuses on transmission-system and electrical-equipment model development, validation, and management. The successful candidate prepares accurate submissions, maintains auditable records, and supports internal teams, the AESO, and external stakeholders. Responsibilities include facility studies, system-capacity assessments, power-flow analysis, and short-circuit information.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate transmission-system and equipment models
Prepare AESO-compliant modeling data submissions
Develop line-impedance and facility-rating documentation
Support small interconnection and facility studies
Ensure records comply with AESO rules and standards
Requirements:
Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma; power systems focus is an asset
APEGA Professional Licensee Engineering designation or eligibility
Six years of relevant high-voltage experience minimum
Working knowledge of AESO modeling data requirements
Strong reporting, graphical, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Support AltaLink’s transmission projects through disciplined model management, AESO compliance, and clear power-system reporting.
