Senior Diffusion Language Model Researcher

Advance diffusion-based language models at Huawei Canada as a Senior Researcher, developing generative modeling methods for text and possibly multimodal applications.
Within Huawei Canada’s Noah’s Ark lab, this permanent position advances artificial intelligence through impactful research and product-focused innovation. You will investigate non-autoregressive architectures, diffusion objectives, hybrid transformer-diffusion models, and scalable large language model systems. The work also covers controllability, efficiency, evaluation, and post-training.
Key Responsibilities:
Propose novel diffusion language model research ideas
Design non-autoregressive and hybrid diffusion architectures
Run experiments and debug large-scale training pipelines
Analyze results and communicate findings clearly
Publish research and contribute to open-source projects
Requirements:
Ph.D. in a relevant quantitative or computing field
First-author publications in top-tier machine learning venues
Deep understanding of diffusion and generative modeling
Python and PyTorch expertise with distributed training
Experience with modern LLM and diffusion stacks
Use diffusion modeling, LLM architectures, and large-scale experimentation to advance Huawei Canada’s artificial intelligence research.
