Operate heavy equipment for the City of Kamloops, supporting street repairs and maintenance while guiding crews in safe, complex operations.
As a permanent, full-time Equipment Operator V – Streets, you will lead street operations across Kamloops. The work includes operating and maintaining heavy equipment, completing road maintenance, and directing junior operators and crew members. This unionized CUPE Local 900 position requires Class 1 licensing and specialized equipment experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate varied heavy equipment for street operations
Maintain equipment supporting road repair activities
Complete complex road maintenance and street operations
Ensure safe work practices throughout assigned activities
Guide junior operators and crew members
Requirements:
Complete senior secondary school or equivalent
Hold valid British Columbia Class 1 licence
Possess air brake endorsement for tandem operation
Drive tandem axle vehicles in city traffic
Complete 500 grader hours in road maintenance
Bring heavy equipment operation, grader experience, and crew guidance skills to essential street services throughout Kamloops.
