Senior SEP Intellectual Property Counsel

Lead Lenovo’s SEP strategy from Chicago or Morrisville, applying patent expertise across cellular and Wi‑Fi standards with global teams.
This senior counsel role manages SEP portfolio growth, legal strategy, and operational execution for Lenovo’s wireless innovations. You will guide SEP Portfolio Managers and Paralegals while reviewing outside counsel work. The position also supports patent transactions, litigation preparation, and portfolio analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with wireless researchers on cellular and Wi‑Fi SEP portfolios
Lead, coach, and develop global SEP teams
Review outside counsel drafts and proposed patent strategies
Develop and verify claim charts using technical specifications
Prepare SEPs for litigation and support patent transactions
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or related disciplines
Patent Agent or Attorney qualification in the United States, China, or Europe
Deep knowledge of worldwide software and standards patenting practices
10+ years of patent preparation, prosecution, and management experience
Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and analytical skills
