Principal AI Engineer LLM Systems

Build responsible AI systems at Capital One in Toronto, applying Python and large language model expertise within a hybrid work model.
As a Principal Associate AI Engineer, you will create foundational AI capabilities for Capital One Canada. You will collaborate with engineers, research scientists, technical program managers, and product managers. Your work will support AI-powered products, scalable infrastructure, and customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Partner with cross-functional teams delivering AI-powered products
Design and deploy foundation model training components
Develop large language model inference and similarity search
Implement guardrails, evaluation, governance, and observability
Optimize production systems for scalability, latency, throughput, and cost
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree plus three years developing AI technologies
Master’s degree plus one year developing AI technologies
Three years programming with Python, Go, Scala, or Java
Strong engineering, mathematics, hardware, software, and AI foundations
Ability to apply research techniques in production
