Commercial Underwriting Portfolio Manager
Sovereign
Lead commercial underwriting, portfolio performance, and risk management from Sovereign Insurance’s Toronto office through a hybrid work model.
As Manager, Underwriting Member and Co-operative Business, you will lead a specialized underwriting portfolio and team. Your work will combine commercial underwriting expertise, analytics, governance, and business transformation. You will support profitable growth, sound decisions, and service delivery while managing complex risks and stakeholder relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee portfolio quality, profitability, performance, and risk management
Apply guidelines, referral processes, and risk controls consistently
Develop underwriting strategies, plans, and budgets
Use data, analytics, and technology to improve operations
Coach teams and lead transformation initiatives
Requirements:
College diploma or related business post-secondary education
CIP designation and 10+ years of commercial underwriting experience
Commercial Property and Casualty insurance background
People leadership, coaching, and change management experience
Complex risk assessment and portfolio management expertise
Bring commercial underwriting, analytics, governance, and leadership expertise to Sovereign Insurance’s Member and Co-operative Business portfolio.
