Senior Payments Platform Engineer

Build high-throughput payment systems as a Senior Engineer with Xero in Vancouver’s hybrid office model. Apply distributed systems expertise to trusted financial products.
You’ll own significant initiatives across Xero’s Payments Platform, from technical design through production validation. The work spans payment orchestration, provider integrations, risk and compliance, reconciliation, and bill payments. You’ll balance customer simplicity, financial control, reliability, and scalability.

Own payment platform capabilities from design through production
Build reliable, secure distributed services at scale
Support payment providers, products, methods, and regions
Improve systems while advancing long-term architecture
Shape engineering practices and quality standards
Requirements:
Experience delivering highly available distributed systems
Experience with high-throughput cloud-native services
Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, Go, Python, Ruby, or C++
End-to-end ownership of significant technical work
Hands-on production coding and technical deep-dive experience
