Power Systems Automation Engineer
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL)
Power systems automation is central to SEL Engineering Services, combining control logic, SCADA applications, and network configurations.
This Project Engineer position requires at least five years of relevant experience and supports customer projects across multiple industries. You will research SEL and third-party equipment, develop automation designs, configure real-time controllers, and support factory testing and field commissioning. Collaboration includes Project Managers, Technical Leads, Engineers, customers, and Salesforce.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and oversee multiple project objectives with minimal guidance
Develop control logic and operational network configurations
Configure RTUs, HMI, servers, and SCADA connections
Prepare testing, safety, commissioning, and service documentation
Provide technical recommendations during customer meetings
Requirements:
Five-plus years meeting position and skill requirements
Understand project scope relative to labor and equipment budgets
Communicate professionally with customers and colleagues
Analyze electrical drawings, schematics, and Bills of Materials
Experience developing HMI applications and server-client SCADA
Bring automation engineering judgment, communication protocol knowledge, and customer-facing technical leadership to SEL projects.
