Winter Works Equipment Operator
Nova Scotia
Operate snowplows, graders, and loaders in Pictou County while supporting Nova Scotia road safety during the Winter Works Period.
The Department of Public Works seeks Equipment Operators for Zone 10 and 11 assignments. You will operate snow removal equipment, complete inspections and logs, and assist with road maintenance and traffic control. This 17-week employment period includes opportunities based out of MacLellan's Brook Base in Zone 10.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate snowplows, graders, and loaders for snow removal
Complete pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections
Perform general equipment maintenance and daily logs
Assist with road surface repairs and general maintenance
Maintain traffic control signs and support traffic control
Requirements:
Department-declared competency as an OPTP operator
Reading and writing comprehension for logs and reports
Flexibility and self-motivation in assigned work
Comfort working in adverse weather and traffic conditions
Hydraulic systems knowledge and mechanical aptitude are assets
Use heavy equipment, inspection skills, and road maintenance abilities to support safe provincial infrastructure in Pictou County.
