Hospital Recreation Therapist
Brant Community Healthcare System
Provide recreation therapy at Brant Community Healthcare System in Brantford or Paris, Ontario, using assessment and treatment planning skills. Work within an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Reporting to the Manager of Therapy Services, the Recreation Therapist meets assessed patient needs through treatment interventions and community transition support. The position develops patient-centred goals, coordinates leisure programming, and supports patients and families before discharge. Strong communication, organization, and teamwork are central to this hospital-based work. Experience with varied patient populations is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess patients comprehensively to determine individualized leisure needs
Develop patient-centred treatment goals from assessment findings
Plan and evaluate individual and group leisure programs
Coordinate community resources for patients and families
Maintain documentation, statistics, and care-team participation
Requirements:
Two years of current hospital Recreation Therapist experience preferred
Recreation degree and Therapeutic Recreation postgraduate diploma
Eligibility for R/TRO and/or CTRA membership
Current BCLS and safe patient-handling knowledge
Ability to work all shifts with excellent attendance
