Junior Project Controls Analyst

Analyze project costs and forecasts as a Junior Project Controller with Valard Construction in Edmonton or Calgary. Work office-based five days weekly with occasional site travel.
This development role supports Transmission projects across Valard under a Project Controller’s mentorship. You will apply project accounting, cost control, forecasting, and variance analysis across construction, EPC, or utilities projects. Your reporting supports senior leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Track project costs, commitments, revenue, and variances using JDE and EcoSys
Prepare forecasts and estimate-to-complete analysis using earned value methods
Analyze labour productivity, equipment utilization, and hourly-rate performance trends
Maintain change order, claims, and project risk registers
Prepare monthly reporting packages, reconciliations, and cash flow projections
Requirements:
Post-secondary education in Finance or Accounting
Three years of project-based financial experience in construction, EPC, or utilities
Knowledge of project accounting, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, and WIP analysis
Understanding of CPI, SPI, change management, and cash flow forecasting
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and aptitude for specialized financial software
Build project controls expertise through cost reporting, forecasting, earned value analysis, and operational finance with Valard Transmission projects.
