This Registered Practical Nurse serves the Mental Health Inpatient Unit, a Schedule 1 adult psychiatry short-term unit. The role requires current Ontario registration, psychiatric nursing experience, medication administration, and biopsychosocial assessment skills. Nurses work within a multidisciplinary team providing nursing care, treatment, and activity programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide nursing care for adult psychiatric inpatients
Support patient assessment, stabilization, and short-term treatment
Administer medications using safe, correct techniques
Use verbal and non-verbal de-escalation techniques
Participate in treatment and activity programs
Requirements:
Current Registered Practical Nurse registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Three years current psychiatric nursing experience with seriously mentally ill individuals
Mental Health Nursing certificate or diploma
Current BCLS and crisis intervention certification or training
Excellent biopsychosocial assessment and psychopharmacologic knowledge
