Kitchen Helper Food Services Sanitation
Baycrest
Support safe food service at Baycrest Hospital as a Kitchen Helper, using sanitation practices and food handling skills. This is an on-call, casual position.
The Food and Nutrition Services Department serves Baycrest Centre, the Apotex Jewish Home for the Aged, and Mountainview Day Centre. As a Kitchen Helper, you provide timely, cost-effective service supporting appetizing, nutritionally appropriate meals. Your work follows Jewish laws of Kashruth, infection control requirements, Ministry of Health Long Term Care Standards, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and departmental policies. The position serves patients, residents, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect and wash dishes as needed
Scrub and watch pots and pans
Clean trash and kitchen garbage
Deliver and collect patient meal trays
Follow sanitation, infection control, and safety standards
Requirements:
High school completion or equivalent
Current Public Health Food Handlers Certification
Previous Food Services experience preferred
Experience working with elderly people is an asset
Effective customer service and communication skills
Use sanitation, food handling, and customer service skills to support safe meal service at Baycrest Hospital.
