Senior Transmission Line Design Engineer

Apply PLS-CADD and transmission line design expertise at Sargent & Lundy, engineering 69kV to 500kV systems with project teams.
This senior engineering position covers conductors, hardware, insulation, structures, foundations, and electrical principles. You will support diverse transmission assignments through design, routing, cost analysis, and technical documentation. The work includes client, vendor, and project-team interaction, plus occasional travel for site visits and meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
Design transmission lines across the 69kV to 500kV range
Develop design criteria, routing, siting, and cost analyses
Perform conductor selection, shielding, grounding, and induction studies
Specify transmission line components with vendors and clients
Direct a small project team and mentor less experienced staff
Requirements:
BS degree from CEAB or ABET accredited engineering program
Seven or more years on diverse transmission project teams
Proficiency reviewing transmission line models with PLS-CADD
Knowledge of sags, tensions, right of way, and construction documents
Excellent written and verbal communication with attention to detail
Use transmission engineering, PLS-CADD, and project leadership skills to deliver accurate designs for Sargent & Lundy clients.
