Machine Learning Research Engineer

Build agentic AI systems with Cohere using Python and machine learning frameworks, working remotely or from listed global offices.
As a Member of Technical Staff, you will design research ideas, ship state-of-the-art models, and contribute across research and engineering. The work supports enterprise AI systems and public-interest products. You will train, evaluate, and use large language models while executing across the full AI stack.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, build, and scale agentic AI systems
Research and implement ideas on supercompute infrastructure
Experiment with models using large-scale data infrastructure
Work with leading researchers in the field
Ship AI products serving public interest
Requirements:
Canadian citizenship and security-clearance eligibility
Extremely strong software engineering skills
Proficiency in Python and related machine learning frameworks
Experience training, evaluating, and using large language models
Experience with distributed GPU LLM training strategies
Apply research engineering expertise in Python, distributed training, and language models to Cohere’s agentic AI systems.
