Job opportunity
Senior RFIC Product Engineer (NPI & Yield)
Emtar Technologies Inc.
We are seeking a
Senior RFIC Product Engineer
to bridge the gap between RF Design and high-volume manufacturing for our Satcom user terminal portfolio. You will own the silicon lifecycle for our Ku/Ka-band and mmWave chips—from the moment first-silicon hits the bench to achieving world-class yields at scale. Your mission is to ensure that every chip delivering high-speed satellite connectivity meets rigorous RF performance, reliability, and cost targets.
Key Responsibilities
NPI Leadership:
Drive the New Product Introduction (NPI) process for RFICs (Beamformers, LNAs, PAs, and Frequency Converters). Define and execute characterization plans that validate silicon against datasheet specs across PVT (Process, Voltage, Temperature) corners.
Yield & Data Science:
Own the yield roadmap. Use statistical tools (JMP, Spotfire) to analyze ATE data, identify "marginal" RF performers, and implement guardband strategies that balance high performance with maximum commercial recovery.
RF Characterization & Bench-to-ATE Correlation:
Perform deep-dive bench characterization of RF parameters ( Gain, NF, P1dB, IP3, Phase Noise, and S-parameters ). Critically, you will lead the correlation between bench measurements and high-volume ATE (Automated Test Equipment) results.
Design for Manufacturability (DFM):
Partner with RF Design teams to influence DFT (Design for Test) and DFM strategies, ensuring mmWave circuits are "testable" at scale without excessive test-time overhead.
Failure Analysis & Root Cause:
Lead technical investigations into yield excursions or reliability failures. Utilize FA techniques to determine if issues stem from fab process shifts, assembly stresses, or design margins.
Hardware Ownership:
Oversee the development of high-signal-integrity RF test hardware, including load boards (DIBs) and probe cards capable of
30GHz+
operation.
Required Qualifications
Education:
BS/MS in Electrical Engineering (Focus on RF/Microwave or Microelectronics).
Experience:
5+ years in Product Engineering, specifically with
RF/Mixed-Signal ICs .
Technical Expertise:
Hands-on experience with
mmWave
frequencies (Ku, Ka, or V-band).
Expertise in RF lab equipment:
VNA (PNA-X), Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, and Noise Figure Meters.
Strong grasp of
Statistical Process Control (SPC)
and yield management methodologies.
Proven experience with RF ATE platforms (e.g.,
Advantest V93000
with WaveScale RF or
Teradyne UltraFLEX ).
Software:
Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or JSL (JMP Scripting) for automated data analysis and hardware control.
Preferred "Plus" Skills
Experience with
Phased Array
system requirements or Beamforming ICs.
Direct experience managing
OSAT
partners in Asia or Europe for RF testing.
Understanding of satellite communication standards (DVB-S2X, Starlink/Kuiper-specific protocols).
