Backend Infrastructure Engineering Manager

Lead backend infrastructure at Fullscript through Ruby on Rails expertise, people leadership, and hands-on technical direction across developer productivity.
As Engineering Manager, you will lead the backend infrastructure team supporting Fullscript’s core Ruby on Rails application. You will guide technical direction, develop engineers, and connect platform investments with product delivery. The work spans application architecture, testing, reliability, security, shared tooling, and cross-team execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, coach, and develop software engineers through clear expectations
Own the roadmap for developer needs and application health
Guide Rails architecture, maintainability, scalability, reliability, and security
Lead Ruby, Rails, and dependency upgrades across teams
Improve workflows through tooling, testing infrastructure, and documentation
Requirements:
Experience managing engineers, including coaching, development, performance management, and hiring
Strong backend background with Ruby on Rails production applications
Technical judgment across architecture, testing, performance, reliability, and security
Experience leading platform, infrastructure, or developer experience work
Strong project management, collaboration, and roadmap communication skills
