Mental Health Inpatient Practical Nurse

Support psychiatric assessment and stabilization at Ross Memorial Hospital as a Temporary Part Time Registered Practical Nurse in Lindsay, Ontario. Work twelve hour shifts.
This Registered Practical Nurse position serves the Mental Health Inpatient Unit, a Schedule 1 adult psychiatry short term unit. The multidisciplinary team provides nursing care, treatment, and activity programs. Applicants need psychiatric nursing experience, medication administration knowledge, and strong biopsychosocial assessment skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide nursing care within the Mental Health Inpatient Unit
Support assessment, stabilization, and short term treatment
Administer medications in psychiatric care settings
Apply verbal and non verbal de escalation techniques
Work within the multidisciplinary team
Requirements:
Current RPN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Three years current psychiatric nursing experience with seriously mentally ill individuals
Certificate or Diploma in Mental Health Nursing
Current BCLS and Non Violent Crisis Intervention certification
Excellent biopsychosocial assessment and psychopharmacologic treatment knowledge
