Nature & Scope
Generation Health Clinic is a family-centered healthy living program that provides comprehensive assessment and support for children and teens aged 6-17 living with overweight and specific health concerns or living with obesity. It is delivered by a team of healthcare professionals, including doctors, dietitians, and mental health professionals who work with families to create personalized care plans. The 10-week group program supports families in making positive long-term behaviour changes for healthy living. It offers a holistic approach to health, focusing on supporting families to make positive long-term healthy living changes through balanced healthy eating, fun physical activity, mental health support, effective parenting strategies, moderate screen time, and sufficient, consistent high quality sleep, rather than dieting or weight loss. The Activity Coach supports families with their physical activity goals. Generation Health Clinic is a program of the Province of BC delivered in partnership with the Provincial Health Services Authority, Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, Interior Health Authority, and Fraser Health Authority.

Reporting to the Manager of Family Healthy Living Programs, the Activity Coach is responsible for implementing Generation Health Clinic's group program physical activity curriculum, leading exercise sessions, and supporting the Clinic's team and participants. This includes attending necessary trainings, participating in anthropometric measurement sessions, managing room setups, and maintaining participant records as per Generation Health Clinic’s documentation policies. Additionally, the activity coach will engage with families through various activities and orientations, ensure safety and policy adherence, and foster positive relationships. Regular communication with group program coordinator and YMCA manager and the ability to substitute in other programs are also key responsibilities.
