Journeyman carpentry and facility maintenance define this casual, multi-site position with Island Health across Victoria, British Columbia healthcare locations.
Reporting to the Manager or designate, the Carpenter performs skilled work at the journeyman level. Duties cover installation, construction, alteration, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and service for structural elements, fittings, and furniture. The position may also include preventative maintenance, demand maintenance, project work, and supervision of assigned maintenance staff or contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
Install and construct structural elements, fittings, and furniture
Alter, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and service facility components
Perform preventative and demand maintenance on facility equipment
Complete project work involving facility equipment and systems
Supervise designated maintenance staff or contractors when assigned
Requirements:
Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate
Journeyman Carpenter qualification recognized by British Columbia
Two years of recent related experience or equivalent
Valid Class 5 vehicle license
Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
Apply journeyman carpentry, troubleshooting, and repair expertise across Island Health facilities while supporting safe, compliant operations.
