Support palliative residents with personal care and emotional support at Good Shepherd – Emmanuel House Hospice in Hamilton, working twelve-hour shifts.
This Personal Support Worker position serves individuals nearing the end of life in a ten-bed hospice. You will provide person-centered care within a team involving personal support workers, nursing, physicians, spiritual support, and psychosocial professionals. Care considers residents’ personal and cultural needs.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide care to residents, families, and friends at life’s end
Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, meals, and feeding
Administer medications according to prescribed instructions
Monitor and report changes in conditions or behaviour
Complete documentation and light housekeeping duties
Requirements:

Hold an approved Personal Support Worker certificate in good standing
Maintain current CPR and First Aid certification
Have end-of-life or life-limiting illness experience
Demonstrate judgement, problem-solving, and assessment skills
Work twelve-hour days and nights as scheduled
Bring compassionate personal care, palliative experience, and sound assessment skills to Good Shepherd’s Hamilton hospice team.
