Public Works Driver Labourer
City of Kingston
Operate trucks and construction equipment as a part time Public Works Driver Labourer with the City of Kingston. Work up to 24 hours weekly.
This replacement position supports Kingston’s Public Works department through equipment operation, inspections, maintenance, and general labour. You will perform winter control operations using plow trucks or sidewalk plows, support flower bed work, collect roadside refuse, and identify unsafe conditions. The position includes opportunities to pick up additional shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate Public Works equipment, machinery, trucks, and construction equipment
Perform plowing, salting, and sanding during winter operations
Prepare flower beds, remove vegetation, and handle materials
Inspect, lubricate, refuel, clean, and maintain equipment
Collect roadside refuse and perform large item pickup
Requirements:
High School Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
Two years driving or operating heavy construction equipment
Two full winter seasons plowing, salting, or sanding
Valid DZ License with satisfactory driver’s abstract
Ability to work safely outdoors in inclement weather
Bring heavy equipment operation, winter control, and safe labour practices to Public Works in Kingston.
