Operate refuse trucks in person for the City of Prince Rupert, using Class 3 driving experience and safe equipment practices. This full-time position works 40 hours weekly.
The Operations Department seeks a Refuse Truck Operator for municipal waste collection. You will operate assigned and auxiliary equipment, direct refuse collectors, screen loads, and complete routine maintenance. The work supports curbside collection while following legislation, bylaws, and departmental procedures.
Key Responsibilities:

Operate assigned refuse trucks and auxiliary equipment
Walk routes to collect waste and curbside materials
Screen loads for regulatory and bylaw compliance
Direct assigned refuse collectors during collection activities
Perform routine equipment maintenance and manual collection tasks
Requirements:

Dogwood Diploma or GED
Valid Class 3 BC licence with Air Brake Endorsement
Two years of Class 3 driving experience
Ability to follow safe work practices and procedures
WHMIS and Traffic Control certifications within two years
Bring Class 3 driving, equipment operation, load screening, and safe collection practices to Prince Rupert’s Operations Department.
