Part Time Laboratory Attendant Peterborough

Support laboratory operations with specimen handling and safety procedures at PHO Peterborough Laboratory in a part time role. Work at 99 Hospital Drive in Peterborough, Ontario.
As a Laboratory Attendant 1, you will receive samples, distribute materials, and maintain laboratory supplies. The work includes glassware washing, equipment operation, record keeping, and laboratory information systems. You will follow laboratory safety procedures, PHO Lab Standard Operating Procedures, and established instructions. The permanent schedule is 18.13 hours per week, with shifts as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive, sort, rack, and transport specimens to laboratory areas
Package bio-hazardous waste and materials for disposal or delivery
Wash, prepare, sterilize, sort, and restock glassware
Complete logs, inventory records, and temperature monitoring
Maintain requisition files and scan laboratory documentation
Requirements:
High school diploma
Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory safety procedures
Familiarity with laboratory information systems and Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to lift up to 10 kilograms regularly
Ability to perform repetitive tasks and stand for extended periods
Bring specimen handling, safety awareness, computer skills, and careful record keeping to PHO laboratory operations in Peterborough.
