Part Time Float Lab Patient Technician
LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services
Support patient care at LifeLabs as a part-time float Lab Patient Technician, collecting specimens and preparing them for transportation.
This Lab Patient Technician role supports LifeLabs’ specimen collection process from patient greeting through specimen preparation. You will perform phlebotomies, ECG tracings, and Holter monitor connections. The position also includes special test collections, documentation, patient inquiries, data entry, and preparing specimens for testing. Scheduled hours and assigned locations vary with operational requirements, including mandatory Saturday rotation.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet patients and verify required test protocols
Perform phlebotomies, ECG tracings, and Holter monitor procedures
Collect special tests and complete related documentation
Respond to patient inquiries and follow up on requests
Enter demographics, requisition details, and testing information
Requirements:
Approved Laboratory Assistant program graduate preferred
Phlebotomy experience considered an asset
ECG training or experience considered an asset
Excellent communication and patient service skills
Computer skills with minimum typing speed of 40 wpm
Bring empathy, adaptability, confidentiality, and specimen collection skills to LifeLabs’ part-time float patient care team.
