Job opportunity
Lead Menswear Designer
MLU CoLab Inc
MLU CoLab Inc. is the Toronto company behind a new luxury menswear brand, currently pre-launch. The founder works on it full-time, alongside an established Toronto Design Director.
The Role
You own the design — concept through construction. The design language and launch direction exist; your job is to take them further: propose and sketch, draft patterns (paper or CAD), build muslins and samples, run fittings, write tech packs a factory can quote from, and coordinate sampling and production with our Toronto partners. You work under the Design Director and alongside the founder. Ideas are welcome and expected. The first months are carrying the launch range from muslin through final samples, and improving it wherever you see a better answer.
Who It Fits
Ideally 4–8 years in menswear, with a proven ability to take a garment from sketch through production — ideally somewhere small, where you did most of it yourself
You draft patterns (paper or CAD) and know garment construction across technical fabrics and tailored details
Your tech packs hold up in front of a factory
Strong technical skills, a sharp design eye, and the initiative to move things forward
CLO3D or similar is a plus, not a requirement
You can show garments you've built, not just drawn
The Arrangement
Contract, 3–5 days per week, in person for build days in Toronto. We start with a short paid trial project — one garment, flats to muslin — so both sides know. Rate scoped to experience.
