Service Cando locomotives as a Rail Equipment Maintenance Technician using inspections, schematics, and preventative maintenance in field environments. Work independently or with small teams.
The position supports Cando’s fleet across specialized rail operating services, including short line operations and industrial switching. You will inspect equipment, recommend repairs, replace locomotive components, interpret technical drawings, and maintain accurate service records. Outdoor work, physical activity, and emergency service response are part of the requirements.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct locomotive inspections and recommend repair actions
Complete preventative maintenance under company and regulatory standards
Interpret technical drawings and mechanical schematics
Replace fuel systems, bearings, couplers, and other components
Maintain service logs, work areas, vehicles, and tools
Requirements:

Experience with diesel, automotive, or heavy equipment
Experience in heavy industrial environments with similar equipment
Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work independently
General computer skills and ability to learn processes
Willingness to address emergency problems day or night
Bring rail equipment maintenance, schematic interpretation, and mechanical troubleshooting skills to Cando’s growing locomotive fleet.
