Staff Site Reliability FinOps Engineer

Apply SRE principles to cloud and AI cost management as a Staff Site Reliability Engineer with Sumo Logic, working remotely from Costa Rica. Use observability and automation to make spending visible, attributable, and optimizable.
Within Sumo Logic’s FinOps team, this staff-level position combines data engineering, financial modeling, and operational excellence. You will build forecasts, unit economics, COGS analyses, and commitment strategies while partnering with Engineering, Finance/FP&A, and executive leadership. The work requires mathematical and statistical modeling, strong coding, and experience with cloud financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
Build cloud and AI spend models with forecasts, scenarios, and sensitivity analyses
Design cost allocation and attribution approaches for teams and products
Operate cost pipelines with monitoring, alerting, quality checks, and automation
Lead optimization initiatives and shape the broader cost roadmap
Mentor junior team members and support FinOps operations
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field
Seven-plus years in data or software engineering roles
Two-plus years in cloud financial management or FinOps
Experience with Scala, Java, Golang, or Python
Strong analytical, coding, debugging, and communication skills
Bring SRE discipline, financial modeling, and cloud cost expertise to Sumo Logic’s Costa Rica-based FinOps team.
