Accounts Payable Clerk
to join our Finance team on a 12-month contract. If you're detail-oriented, organized, and eager to develop your accounting skills, this could be a great opportunity for you.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone early in their accounting career. You’ll gain hands‑on experience, work alongside a supportive team, and see firsthand how a company’s financial operations run. You’ll ensure vendors are paid accurately and on time, with strong internal controls in place, while identifying ways to improve our processes.
What you will be doing
Review, verify, and process vendor invoices, checking accuracy, authorization, and coding
Reconcile vendor statements and play detective on any discrepancies
Process employee expense claims and make sure they follow our expense policy
Monitor payment schedules and solve payment hiccups before they become headaches
Distribute, file, and mail cheques according to our procedures
Guard against payment errors, duplicate payments, and fraud
Manage recurring vendor payments and reconciliations for company assets like cell phones, vehicle leases, and registrations
Support month‑end close and keep AP records tidy and audit‑ready
Answer vendor questions and act as the go‑between for vendors, purchasing, and internal teams
Partner with accounting, procurement, and other departments, communicating clearly about payment issues and approvals
Share what you know, help onboard new teammates, and jump into process improvements, system changes, and special projects
What you bring to the team
High school diploma required; 1+ years of accounts payable experience, or equivalent co‑op or coursework, preferred
Post‑secondary education in Accounting or Finance is considered an asset
Experience with Sage 300 and IBMi is considered an asset
Intermediate proficiency with MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook
Strong communicator who earns the confidence of vendors and colleagues through responsive, dependable follow‑through
Highly detail‑oriented, with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve routine accounting issues accurately
Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and consistently meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
How you will succeed
By the end of your first three months, you’ll be confidently processing vendor invoices and employee expense claims with accurate coding and proper approvals. You’ll know our systems and procedures well enough to spot a discrepancy, trace it to its source, and resolve it with the right people. Vendors and internal teams will know you as a reliable, responsive point of contact.
