Occupational Health Safety Specialist

As an Occupational Health and Safety Specialist, you will provide operational support across assigned facilities at Canada’s particle accelerator centre. The work involves OHS policies, hazard identification, corrective actions, risk assessments, and safety audits. You will collaborate with researchers, trades, supervisors, contractors, and operations staff while escalating broader issues to the OHS Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Support OHS policies, procedures, programs, and work permit activities
Conduct facility inspections, audits, and hazard identification
Track corrective actions and verify effectiveness onsite
Coordinate safety drills and emergency response exercises
Support incident investigations and preventive measures
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent education and experience
Three years of progressive OHS field experience
Experience with inspections, hazard identification, and corrective actions
Knowledge of OHS regulations and industrial procedures
Legal ability to work permanently in Canada
Bring field-based OHS experience, strong communication, and practical risk-management skills to TRIUMF’s Vancouver facilities.
