Registered Medical Laboratory Technologist
Sault Area Hospital
Perform laboratory testing, specimen collection, and result reporting as a Registered Medical Laboratory Technologist within Sault Area Hospital.
This position performs laboratory procedures across assigned subsections, including Transfusion Services, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Histology, or Hematology. The technologist communicates with Patient Care Providers, exercises independent judgment, and interprets findings within regulatory parameters. Continuing education, quality control, and laboratory equipment knowledge support the work.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform laboratory procedures according to department manuals and hospital policies
Work within one or more laboratory subsections
Collect specimens and communicate results to Patient Care Providers
Exercise judgment in specimen procurement, analysis, reporting, and interpretation
Participate in required continuing education programs
Requirements:
Relevant bachelor’s degree, approved technologist recognition, or Ontario laboratory diploma
Minimum one-year clinical training in an approved CSMLS program
One year of related laboratory work experience
Knowledge of quality control and quality assurance procedures
Microsoft environment computer literacy and laboratory equipment knowledge
