Intensive Care Unit Staff Nurse

Provide intensive care nursing with Island Health using critical care expertise, emergency response, and professional patient assessment. This temporary part time assignment supports rotating shifts.
As a Staff Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit, you provide professional nursing care within a multidisciplinary team. You coordinate and administer direct client care using the nursing process. You also direct auxiliary personnel, respond to emergencies, and support patient safety in accordance with VIHA standards, nursing practice standards, and the CNA Code of Ethics.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and administer direct client care
Apply the nursing process to assigned patients
Provide direction to auxiliary personnel and staff
Respond appropriately during emergency situations
Safeguard clients, visitors, and staff
Requirements:
Registration as a practicing RN with BCCNM
Critical Care Certification or equivalent education and experience
Advanced Cardiac Life Support and specialty certification
Pass Island Health Basic Arrhythmia Challenge at 75% or higher
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Bring critical care certification, nursing process expertise, and calm emergency response to Island Health’s Intensive Care Unit.
