Job opportunity
Personal Assistant & Driver (Kingston, ON)
Northern Primrose Consulting Inc
Northern Primrose is hiring on behalf of a client: a busy real estate business owner based in Kingston. He spends a large part of his week travelling between properties and cities, and wants someone to take driving, errands and household upkeep off his plate so he can work from the back seat.
This is a hands-on, in-person role. One day you're driving him to Pearson; the next you're running parts to job sites and restocking the fridge. If you like variety, independence and being the person who keeps things running smoothly, keep reading.
Schedule
Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with a 30-minute unpaid break. Days are extended as needed for travel.
Time
What it looks like
Mornings: Daily house reset at the client's Kingston home: unload and run the dishwasher, clean bathrooms, start laundry, clean the litter box, tidy. You drive your own vehicle there.
Rest of the day: Report to the office. On call to drive between properties and meetings, run errands and pick up materials. Company vehicle is based at the office.
Long-distance trips: 3-4 per month, scheduled about a month in advance (Toronto, Pearson Airport, Collingwood). Day trips only, no overnights. Can start early or run into the evening. Meals covered.
What you'll do
Driving and travel
Drive the client in a company vehicle to properties, meetings and appointments in and around Kingston
Handle long-distance drives across Ontario, including airport runs to Pearson, and load and unload all luggage
Be on time, every time. Plan routes and leave early enough to account for traffic, weather and construction delays. Drive safely and at the speed limit: the client works from the back seat, so leaving early beats driving fast.
Pick up lunch and food during the workday. Use wait time while the client is in meetings for vehicle cleaning, grocery orders and other tasks.
Household
Every day at the Kingston home (approx. 1,200 to 1,600 sq ft, two bathrooms): unload and run the dishwasher, clean both bathrooms, put on laundry, clean the litter box and tidy. Vacuuming and kitchen cleaning as needed.
Create and maintain your own daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules, plus a cleaning checklist for each of the client's properties (Kingston, Collingwood, Toronto)
Monthly tasks such as cleaning the fridge, washer, dryer and dishwasher
Deep cleaning on a rotation: windows, walls, baseboards and behind furniture
Garbage, recycling and compost maintained
Track household supplies for each home (garbage and compost bags, toilet paper, paper towel, cleaning and laundry supplies) and reorder or buy before anything runs out
Receive, open and manage parcels and packaging
Grocery shopping and putting groceries away in the fridge and pantry
Do a full clean of the client's Collingwood and Toronto properties on arrival each visit
Errands and material runs
Pick up materials and parts for the client's maintenance team from Canadian Tire, Home Depot and specialty suppliers, consolidating trips so the team stays on site
Make purchases with a company credit card and keep receipts organized
Vehicle care
Keep the company vehicles clean, stocked and ready to go
Track and book routine maintenance
What you need
Must have
Full Ontario G licence and comfortable driving large SUVs/pickup trucks
Clear vulnerable sector criminal record check
Your own reliable vehicle to get to the client's home each morning
Availability for the schedule above, including occasional early starts and late returns on trip days
Comfortable around cats (one cat in the home)
Self-directed: you find what needs doing and do it without being asked. This role has no one handing you a task list.
Discretion. You'll be in the client's home and vehicle and around private business conversations.
Comfortable with physical work: cleaning, carrying groceries, parcels, luggage and building supplies
Nice to have
Experience as a driver, chauffeur, courier or delivery driver
Housekeeping or home management experience
Familiarity with Kingston-area suppliers and hardware stores
Real talk: what this job is not
We'd rather you hear this now than three weeks in.
There is waiting. Some days you'll wait in the vehicle or at the office while the client is in meetings. That time isn't off: you're expected to clean the vehicle, order groceries and line up the next errand. If you need to be told how to fill downtime, this won't suit you.
The schedule moves. Trips are planned a month out and you're always home the same night, but 3-4 days a month run long, and an evening airport run means getting home late.
It's not an office job. This is not a desk-based executive assistant role. Expect to clean bathrooms, haul supplies and do laundry, alongside the driving.
You'll be in someone's personal space. Their home, their car, their conversations. Discretion isn't optional.
Some days are quiet. When the client is away, your day might be a house clean and a supply run, then done. Some people love that; some get bored.
Compensation
$56,160 - $62,400 per year, full-time, based on experience
Company vehicle for all work driving
Company credit card for groceries, materials and errands; meals covered on trip days
The successful candidate completes a vulnerable sector criminal record check, submits an Ontario Driver's Abstract and is comfortable with reference checks. The client's name will be shared with candidates in the first interview.
