Medical Communications Officer Dispatcher

Process emergency medical calls as a Medical Communications Officer in Dartmouth, using accurate typing and clear communication during shift work. Support Nova Scotia’s EHS system on-site.
This temporary, full-time term position lasts 12 months and begins with the January 2027 class. Reporting to the MCC Operations Lead, you will process service requests, dispatch resources, and handle inquiries. The work supports patient care through standardized call-taking procedures, protocols, and pre-arrival instructions. Strong multitasking is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Process incoming calls according to established procedures
Dispatch appropriate emergency medical resources
Calm callers and provide direction to responding agencies
Complete paperwork and reports accurately and promptly
Maintain an organized workspace and support safety initiatives
Requirements:
Minimum Grade 12 education
Current First Aid and CPR certification
Ability to type accurately at 25 words per minute
Ability to complete specialized EMC training successfully
Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays
Bring clear communication, accurate call processing, and calm multitasking to EMC’s medical communications operations in Dartmouth.
