Laboratory Attendant Specimen Processing
Ontario Agency for Health Protection and Promotion
Support specimen processing at Public Health Ontario’s Peterborough Laboratory using laboratory information systems, analyzers, and medical sample preparation.
As a Laboratory Attendant 2, you will provide technical services supporting environmental laboratory operations and specimen testing. Your work includes logging, sorting, labeling, transporting, preparing, and processing samples. You will also enter water sample results and maintain accurate, confidential records.
Key Responsibilities:
Log, sort, and label submitted specimens for testing
Prepare, process, and aliquot human samples
Load and unload laboratory analyzers
Enter water sample results accurately
Clean equipment and disinfect laboratory work areas
Requirements:
Medical Laboratory Technician certification or relevant training and experience
Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory safety procedures
Familiarity with laboratory information systems
Proficient computer skills for automated equipment
Oral and written communication skills
