Critical Care Specialty Registered Nurse

Develop critical care expertise through theory and practicum as a Specialty Registered Nurse with Island Health. This regular full time opportunity supports direct nursing care.
Reporting to a Nurse Manager, Department Head, or designate, you will prepare for Island Health’s critical care specialty department. The position requires recent medical or surgical experience, effective communication, workload organization, and priority setting. After completing specialty training, you will move into a regular full time rotation line within the trained specialty department.
Key Responsibilities:
Complete theory and practicum specialty training
Plan and provide direct nursing care
Follow unit and program philosophies
Apply competency guidelines and applicable policies
Support continuous quality and patient safety improvement
Requirements:
Practice registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives
Recent related medical or surgical nursing experience
BCIT NSCC 7150 or PLAR equivalent and NSCC 7120
Effective verbal and written communication abilities
Physical ability to perform position duties
Build critical care capability through specialty training while applying direct nursing care and BCCNM practice standards with Island Health.
