Perinatal Registered Nurse Island Health

Apply perinatal nursing expertise with Island Health as a casual Registered Nurse supporting obstetrical patients in a hospital setting. Provide direct care under established clinical standards.
Reporting to the Nurse Manager or designate, this Registered Nurse plans and provides care for obstetrical patients. The position follows unit philosophy, competency guidelines, policies, and obstetrical guidelines. Practice also aligns with BC College of Nurses and Midwives standards and Island Health’s strategic direction.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and provide direct nursing care to obstetrical patients
Apply the nursing process to assigned patient care
Prioritize and organize patient demands and care needs
Provide leadership during emergency situations
Assume charge responsibility as needed
Requirements:
Registration as a practicing RN with BC College of Nurses and Midwives
Graduation from a recognized Perinatal Nursing specialty program
Current CPR Basic Rescuer certification
Breastfeeding Course Certificate
Two years recent related experience or equivalent preparation
Use assessment, organization, communication, and emergency leadership skills while delivering perinatal nursing care at Island Health.
