Director, Responsible AI Strategy

Advance responsible AI at Cenovus by directing enterprise priorities, executive alignment, and value-focused decisions across a complex operating environment.
This Director role combines AI strategy, business and financial acumen, and executive influence to guide Cenovus’s enterprise portfolio. You will evaluate proposals, challenge assumptions, and make trade-offs involving value, risk, adoption, governance, and capacity. You will also establish confidence in responsible AI use across the company.
Key Responsibilities:
Own intake, prioritization, capacity allocation, and reporting
Evaluate AI proposals and challenge underlying assumptions
Influence executives, technical teams, and business leaders
Characterize value from enterprise AI initiatives
Oversee delivery and communicate strategic recommendations
Requirements:
Minimum 20 years of industry experience
Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience
Experience with executive stakeholders outside direct authority
Understanding of data, architecture, cybersecurity, and operations
Strong business and financial acumen
Lead Cenovus’s AI strategy with informed judgment, executive influence, responsible governance, and disciplined value creation across the enterprise.
