Director of Data Engineering
Social Leverage LLC
Direct Alpaca’s data engineering organization on-site, combining Python, SQL, cloud infrastructure, and leadership across critical financial systems.
This Director-level leader will own data strategy, execution, and roadmap for a department serving Finance, Sales, Product, Compliance, and Customer Success. You will balance operational delivery with self-service analytics, AI-powered analytics, and enterprise search. The role remains hands-on enough for architecture decisions, technical reviews, and executive representation.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage leads, establish priorities, and deliver platform initiatives
Make build-versus-buy decisions for data tooling
Translate business needs into scalable data products
Enable semantic layers, catalogues, and conversational BI
Manage infrastructure costs as assets under custody grow
Requirements:
Eight-plus years of data engineering experience
Three-plus years managing leads and individual contributors
Deep modern data stack experience with dbt and query engines
Financial data experience in fintech or financial services
Strong executive stakeholder management and architecture judgment
Bring data engineering leadership, financial systems experience, and cloud expertise to Alpaca’s globally distributed platform organization.
