Principal Defence Systems Architect

Shape sovereign defence architecture with SkyWatch in Ottawa, leading secure deployments and AI systems for government environments.
As Principal Defence Systems Architect, you own the sovereign product architecture and Government & Defence engineering roadmap. You will design deployable systems for private cloud, on premises, and air gapped environments. The role combines accreditation, defence interoperability, auditable AI agents, and milestone delivery. Reporting to the CEO, you serve as technical owner and acceptance authority while building the Ottawa team.
Key Responsibilities:
Own private cloud, on premises, and air gapped architecture
Lead ITSG 33 security assessment and authorization evidence
Deliver defence standards and GIS interoperability
Bring auditable AI agents inside security boundaries
Build and lead Ottawa engineers and co op mentorship
Requirements:
10+ years building production software
3+ years as principal, architect, or technical lead
Secure deployment and authorization experience
Canadian citizenship and Secret clearance eligibility
Government delivery and engineering leadership experience
Lead SkyWatch sovereign architecture, accreditation, interoperability, and auditable AI delivery for Canadian defence customers.
