Senior Building Structural Engineer

Lead building structural design and analysis with WSP in Calgary, applying Canadian codes and technical leadership across project lifecycles.
This senior position supports WSP’s Buildings team through structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports. You will coordinate with architects and building systems specialists while guiding project teams through technical challenges. The role also includes mentoring developing engineering professionals and supporting construction activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead structural engineering design and analysis for building projects
Develop calculations, specifications, reports, and detailed structural designs
Coordinate multidisciplinary solutions with architects and engineering specialists
Review drawings, calculations, and technical deliverables for quality
Mentor junior engineers and technical staff through professional development
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
8+ years of relevant building structural engineering experience
Professional Engineer registration with APEGA or eligibility
Knowledge of Canadian building codes and structural design standards
Experience communicating technical concepts within multidisciplinary teams
