Senior AI Backend Software Engineer
Pelmorex
Build production AI systems with Python or Node.js in Pelmorex’s flexible hybrid environment at its Oakville location. This is a 12-month contract role.
As a Software Engineer, AI, you will help Pelmorex move prototypes into reliable services for The Weather Network, MétéoMédia, and internal partners. The work combines backend microservices, RESTful APIs, cloud infrastructure, and multimodal LLM workflows across text, image, and video. You will own approved products from release through production support.
Key Responsibilities:
Transition prototypes into production-grade systems and operational runbooks
Build scalable backend services and RESTful APIs
Implement LLM telemetry, guardrails, caching, and fallback mechanisms
Deploy AWS or GCP infrastructure, storage, secrets, and compute
Maintain testing, observability, uptime, and on-call support
Requirements:
Five-plus years architecting production backend microservices and APIs
Python or Node.js backend development proficiency
Hands-on AWS or GCP infrastructure management experience
Docker, CI/CD, Kubernetes, Postgres, vector indexes, and Redis experience
Experience integrating multimodal LLM inference into live pipelines
Bring backend engineering, cloud infrastructure, and multimodal AI expertise to production services serving Pelmorex users.
