Senior Wearable Data Engineering Lead
Bells of Steel Inc.
Design wearable experiments and dependable data systems for Bells of Steel, working hands-on with strength training technology in Calgary.
This Senior Technical Lead contract connects sensor research, data engineering, and coaching product development. You will collaborate with personal trainers, biomechanical engineers, and the founder to test affordable sensors, establish reproducible baselines, and understand uncertainty. You will also own the existing application, including React Native/Expo, TypeScript, Supabase/Postgres, local-first data, monitoring, and release operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Design reference comparisons and simple experimental baselines
Build sensor ingestion and failures teams can observe
Evaluate models with uncertainty and honest release limits
Add confidence checks and manual coaching fallbacks
Keep experiment records and technical decisions reproducible
Requirements:
Applied ML evaluation experience influencing product decisions
Python, statistics, signal processing, and time-series fundamentals
Backend, SQL, API, authorization, and data pipeline expertise
Production mobile development and launch support experience
Understanding of lifting, progression, RPE, and rest periods
Own Bells of Steel’s wearable evidence and application systems with practical machine learning and strength-training understanding.
